Sharepoint with gmail ( IIS SMTP Virtual Server with gmail)

We use G mail as our email service .Our Intranet sharepoint was not able to send alerts to company emails.

The configuration has to be done on IIS virtual SMTP server.

Make sure the gmail logon details and tls port are added to both default smtp server properties and remote domain.

Add the Relay restrictions.

If thesetup do not work try putting the name of the server in the FQDN field .

ie instead of putting abc.domain.com put abc.



To test :

Configure outlook express on the same machine and point to the shrepoint IP as SMTP.


Now in sharepoint central admin; change the out going SMTP .

Add the abc as discussed above.

It should work
